Where’s my core?

I think I left it behind when vacationing in Quebec. Tried working out this week and it was painful. And yes, I missed my core because clearly, it wasn’t there. It had been replaced by a jelly like substance we call, the blob.

It’s been a long and busy summer, and admittedly, between the visiting family, friends and work, I might not have made it to the pool or a tennis court or a treadmill very much. And granted 6 weeks is a lot of time to go without consistently working out, but girlfriend, the older you grow, the quicker the blob accumulates. Oh, it takes its sweet time leaving though.

And then of course, there are these delightful facts about South Asian peoples, which makes it frustratingly harder to lose the blob, yet at the same time, imperative that #blobbegone occurs for better quality of life:

  • Greater visceral fat than other ethnic groups even at the same BMI and age,
  • Increased insulin resistance at earlier ages and comparative BMI as other ethnic groups,
  • Leading to a higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes within South Asians.

So yeah….time to get those crunches going again.
